We are positively thrilled to announce that we will be hosting Manuel Mathieu for two hour-long events exploring his work in the world of fragrant art and beyond!
Manuel Mathieu is a multidisciplinary artist, best known globally for his emotive, indefinite-form paintings, drawings, ceramics, and installations. From a young age, Mathieu understood the value of an artistic vision of the world and developed his own. He chose freedom, dreamt without bounds, and stood firm in his choices. Mathieu continues to live true to his code today, and through his visual art and artistic vision, Mathieu confronts viewers with their humanity and spirituality. With his line of perfumes, he extends and increases this exploration.
His perfumes remind us of the intricacies of our existence. To create them, Mathieu collaborated with one of the best noses in France, Juliette Karagueuzoglou, VP Perfumer at IFF, a global institution of sensorial experiences. With a rich history of partnerships with renowned brands, she views perfumery as an act of generosity, aiming to evoke vivid memories and stir living emotions that endure over time. Working with Manuel Mathieu aligned with her ethos. Manuel Mathieu sculpted the bottles that house his fragrances in his ceramic studio. To him, shaping clay is molding the earth, physically and spiritually. Through his process, he searched for something that felt familiar, with tension and moments of disruption. The chosen design stands on its own as a sculpture, a shape similar to a mountain. Haiti, Manuel Mathieu’s homeland, means “land of high mountains” in the indigenous Taíno language. The shape of the bottle pays homage to the land where the artist is from.
Join us Sunday, December 14th, for an intimate, interesting, and informative visit with world-renowned artist and creative director Manuel Mathieu. We will be hosting two one-hour events with Manuel after our operating hours from 6-7 pm and 730-830 pm, respectively.
