“Animalic perfumes create a feeling of intimacy and danger. The feeling of someone or something close. Of boundaries crossed and heart racing desire.”
— Barbara Herman via Fragrantica
Join us for an evening of exploration and discovery with vintage perfume expert and creative director of ERIS Parfums, Barbara Herman. Her name might be familiar to some from her blog Yesterday’s Perfume which as the name implies, focused on vintage fragrances. Barbara has been collecting vintage fragrances for many years and decided to combine her passion for writing with her love of fragrance in her book Scent and Subversion: decoding a century of provocative perfume. She will read a few excerpts from her book while she shares treasured scents from her own private collection of perfume. She will also illustrate her journey from perfume enthusiast to creative director for her magnificent line of fragrances, ERIS.
Barbara was fascinated by the erotic and emotional elements that certain vintage fragrances provided and wanted to create scents that explored these themes. Perfumer Antoine Lie, proved to be the ultimate creative partner in that he had previously worked on several animalic accords and is known for his daring, innovative approach to perfumery. Fumerie is thrilled to welcome Barbara, the creative director of ERIS, which boasts four different fragrances that each speak their own voice woven with sensuality and intrigue.
Barbara will be visiting us on Saturday, February 10 from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM. The event is free to attend but we ask that all attendees please sign up below.
