We are incredibly thrilled and honored to welcome Andy Tauer to Fumerie Parfumerie. A chemist by trade, Tauer's perfumery career began serendipitously with a trip to Africa and a copy of Mandy Aftel's Essence and Alchemy: A Natural History of Perfume. With no prior experience creating perfumes, Tauer began experimenting with raw materials, teaching himself as he went. To this day he is 100% self-taught—a remarkable feat in an industry dominated by professionally-trained perfumers.
Tauer Perfumes began as a one-man operation as Andy Tauer continued working part time as a chemist. His creations soon garnered him a cult following, eventually catching the attention of perfume critics Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez who reviewed Tauer's L'Air du Désert Marocian in Perfumes The A-Z Guide, awarding the fragrance the maximum five stars and praising his use of high-quality materials. Sanchez's review transformed Tauer from a cult perfumer into an icon. He has since become one of the most recognizable personalities in niche and independent perfumery.
Tauer will be stopping by Fumerie on November 18 and will be discussing his newest release Au Cœur du Désert, his creative process and much more. After speaking with Andy we have decided to re-open this event. Please note that we are expecting at least fifty attendees and the event will necessarily spill out onto the sidewalk. Please keep an eye on the weather reports and plan to dress accordingly.
