David Lev Jipa Slivinschi

David Lev Jipa Slivinschi is Fumerie’s fourth Maker’s Residency featured artist via his brand Toskovat’.

Toskovat’ is a Bucharest based project owned & run by its perfume-maker David.

Previously working in the film industry, David decided in his early twenties that perfumery is the true medium that would allow him to encapsulate and present his stories & memories.

His main focus is exploring the universal human experience, bridging what seems to be a deeply personal memory or event with its larger commonality and significance in each of us as a species.

David is self-taught and prefers the term perfume-maker, as “perfumer” can be a term people pay to be formally trained in, it comes with a certain expectation and also a certain exclusion. He does not want that sort of title and prefers to be “of the people.” The memories he presents, albeit stylistically differently, could have been presented by anyone.
