Collection: Istituto dell’Odore

There is a place, there is a building, there is an archive.

Istituto dell’Odore is a collection of fragrances created with the aim of archiving the past and the present, thereby making the olfactory future permanent. It represents the only place – both physical and imaginary – where all the olfactory memories and essences that humankind has lost over time will be preserved.

In this project, the perfumes aspire to become custodians of memory, and the stories they tell express a shared and universal experience. Each fragrance is built around a specific raw material, becoming a sanctuary for memories and emotions. Personal experience thus becomes a shared element of the collective, with the aim of creating a comprehensive catalogue of raw materials that carry shared memories.

With Istituto dell’Odore, a new era dawns for niche perfumery, redefining the role of the fragrance creator – who becomes an archivist and custodian of tomorrow’s olfactory memory – and reinterpreting the universal significance of raw materials.

Creating today to preserve the memory of tomorrow: this is where the archivist’s work begins, with the research and cataloguing of artefacts, the first five of which are already on display for visitors.
