Description La Belle Hélène breathes new life into a style that deserves more attention: the fruity chypre. Bertrand Duchaufour deftly adorns the classical chypre structure with contemporary touches that make the fragrance feel at once of the moment and classic. La Belle Hélène opens with crisp notes of pear and tangerine accented by linden blossom and the apricot-like facets of osmanthus, the star of this composition. Osmanthus, a shrub native to East Asia, is prized for its highly-fragrant blossoms, which when used in fragrance, possess a delicate fruity-leathery aroma. The characteristic woody-mossy chypre base further accentuates the costly osmanthus absolute pairing cedar, oakmoss, and sandalwood with the natural leathery facets of osmanthus.
